My Story - by Sue Griffiths founder and CEO of De Luxe Catering Ltd.
I have flown as a stewardess for over twenty years and operated on various types from British Airways on their 747's through many of the corporate aircraft including B727, Gulf stream IV, Falcon 900, BAC 1-11, HS 125.
My son is a Head In-flight Chef and has looked after the needs of select individuals on private Boeing 727, Boeing 767 and Airbus A340 types. My husband is the Chief Pilot for an International corporate flight department
In 1988 whilst employed as chief stewardess for a Falcon 900 company I came to the conclusion the caterers serving the London airports just could not get it right - their catering was one day good, the next time bad, and often short or late.
There only seemed to be one solution - to form a catering company dedicated to the production of aeroplane food, one that would fulfil the needs of the corporate flight attendant, and one that would be based on my knowledge based on all those years in the cabin.
Twelve years on the company has a wealth of professionals in its ranks. It has a data base on corporate individuals and their needs which ensures that mistakes are difficult to make. It boasts chefs who are ranked amongst the best, each having completed international assignments, and whose creations are quite extraordinary.
